Robyn Tippins says you shouldn't be afraid to break the unwritten rule that prohibits personal anecdotes and digressions on your blog about business (or your blog that you monetize). I agree. I mentioned last week that I was moving to Arizona, didn't I?
But this is a question I'm struggling to answer adequately. I know that the ultimate answer is always going to be, "It depends on you, your blog and your readers," but I still am trying to pin down some good rules of thumb to follow.
Perhaps one would be: Share personal details, stories and opinions whenever appropriate.
A follow-up to that rule might be: Don't deviate from the main topic of your blog.
One more that popped into my head: Mention those personal things that have to do directly with what you blog about, or with your blog itself (e.g. "Hey everyone, I'm going on vacation and I'll be back in the blogging saddle in two weeks").
Those are just some half-baked thoughts ... like the gooey brownies I made for my family this morning. (That was a nice detail to insert, wasn't it?)
How well do you think I project my personality on this blog? What could I do to make you feel more personally acquainted with me (and therefore probably more trusting of my thoughts on busines blogs)? Where's the line between sharing appropriate personal elements and boring or distracting your readers?

Do you bake often? :)
