Fortune 500 Blog Project: Stats and Progress
A quick update on the F500BP - or Fortune 500 Blog Project for the uninitiated - whose goal is to delve deeper into Fortune 500 companies' corporate blogging efforts.

So far, 37 registered volunteers have published research on 33 Fortune 500 companies16 companies have been identified as having at least one public-facing corporate blog.  Volunteers have either researched or signed up to research 85 companies.

Check out the growing list of Fortune 500 corporate blogs.  It's got some the other wiki doesn't have (like the Clorox Dr. Laundry blog or the Johnson Controls Your Energy Forum blog).

Fortune 500 Blog Project Unofficial LogoSome fun things have already happened as a result of the project.  Eric Fallander has launched a similar project for his thesis focusing on blogs by the 100 largest Swedish companies as listed in the Veckans Affärer (VA) (Eric told me that means something like "Business Weekly").  Cornelius would probably find Eric's work interesting, as it will involve textual analysis of corporate blogs.

Also, Dr. Laundry himself (AKA Dr. Harold Baker) of the Dr. Laundry Blog by Clorox emailed me back in response to some questions regarding Clorox's corporate blogging.  Dr. L said the blog is a way for him to communicate directly with consumers.  I'm excited to share with you my upcoming review of that Clorox corporate blog.  Thanks, Dr. L, for the open communication!

Here's a sampling of recent reviews by project volunteers:
Please participate!  The more hands at this plow, the better.  Help any way you can; do anything you want.

Any comments or suggestions regarding the project?

Man!!!! A thesis on Blogging~! Aww!! I wish mine was too. Too bad, I'll have to stick to studying effects of cultural diversity on learning... arrrrgh.. *envy*

I feel your pain.

Yeah, I'm definitely intrigued. Too bad his site is in Swedish and I can't seem to find a tool for translating it. But I'll certainly email him soon. Kudos once again for digging that up Easton... you're the Sherlock Holmes of corporate blogging. :)

Thanks, Cornelius. I'm no Sherlock, but I do try to dig useful things up.
