Contuining our relentless march forth to the glorious 500th review of Fortune 500 companies' corporate blogs (or lack thereof), I now take a look at #37, UnitedHealth Group (NYSE: UNH).
The UnitedHealth site (I wish UnitedHealth.com took you there) has the perfunctory boring Fortune 500 corporate newsroom - blogless, commentless, feedless, lifeless - just PR-spun "news" about the company's progress.
Forgive me for being somewhat snarky on this - I just wish I had a couple hours to sit down with all the Fortune 500 companies and give 'em a few suggestions on how to make their corporate news pages more conversational and inviting to all people. Maybe Chad Horenfeldt could give 'em his two cents as well.
Not only does UHG have no public-facing corporate blogs (unless it's hiding them from us all!), it doesn't appear to be engaging with blogs about health care at all. Not that there's much being said about UnitedHealth on blogs right now, but still - where's the conversation?

Hi easton - just saw this. I think that UnitedHealth Group needs to forget about blogs and get back to the web basics. The home page for http://www.unitedhealthgroup.com is horrible! They should take their web designer out back and finish them off. Their are different fonts in different sizes, content all over the place - it's a mess. Reminds me of the US health care system! :) I really had no idea what I should do on this site. They do have another site: http://www.unitedhealthcare.com which is much better. https://www.myuhc.com/ asks for feedback and provides multiple ways to contact them. However, I don't expect a Health related site like these guys to engage with their site visitors openly - a little risky. Their online strategy also seems to be all over the place with multiple sites that have different branding etc... someone needs to get in there and kick some but so these sites have some continuity between them (unless that isn't the point).
