April Fools.

As you catch your breath, let me assure you that blogtipping is very much alive and kickin' as we tiptoe into April 2007.

As you may recall, blogtipping is where you publish a blog post in which you choose one or more bloggers (I typically do three) and give each one three compliments and one piece of blogging advice (example).  (Get free blogtipping icons for your blog tipping posts.)

Blogtipping combines blogging tips, friendly kudos, a little link love, the element of surprise and a tinge of zaniness to make for a fun and fruitful tradition that even the most austere business blogger can appreciate.  And as many bloggers can attest, it's even funner to be a blogtipper than to be a blogtippee.  So get your groove on with the rest of us and feel free to add your own little mischievous spin to your blogtipping shenanigans.

The first day of every month is Blogtipping Day.  Next month will mark the first anniversary of the first "official" Blogtipping Day.  What shall we do?  (Evil grin ...)

Well now - whom shall we sneak up behind this month?  Ah yes ... let's blogtip some corporate blogs!

Blogtippee #1: Direct2Dell by Dell (feed)

1: Nice about page.
2: Cool "most popular posts" and "most commented on" lists at right.
3: You've even got it in Chinese!

Tip: Do a viral post or post series offering computer buying tips or run a contest offering new Dell gadgets as prizes.

Blogtippee #2: Nuts About Southwest by Southwest Airlines (feed)

1: Friendly user guide.
2: Vibrant commenter community (dozens of comments follow a typical post).
3: One word: Peanuts!

Tip: Put a list of the post authors here so people can better realize the wide variety you've got writing at this blog (flight attendants, managers, pilots, marketers, agents, etc.).

Blogtippee #3: Marriott on the Move by Bill Marriott, Chairman & CEO of Marriott International (feed)

1: Love the down-to-earth tone.
2: Frequent posting for a CEO (once or more a week).
3: Variety of post topics - even birth announcements!

Tip: It's neat to be able to listen to the MP3 versions of your posts - make it easier to subscribe to the audio versions, though (a podcast feed, if you will).
