Why Visit Duration Matters
I need to dig up a citation for this, but I think Google gives higher search rankings to websites with longer average visit durations.
I do know that the longer someone stays at your blog, the more likely they are to participate in its community, return to your blog frequently and purchase products or services via your blog.
How to Increase Your Average Visit Duration
- Include images and videos in your posts whenever possible.
- Link to other pages on your blog whenever possible.
- Encourage visitors to publish comments.
- Offer appealing links in your sidebar(s).
