We will now discuss Question #15 of 200 blog review questions to help you improve your blog and review blogs. The Ultimate Blog Review Guide e-book covers all 200 questions in detail.

Blog Review Question #15: How long ago was the last post published?

This is an intriguing question. It's the kind of question that is best asked not once, but repeatedly over a series of days or weeks. In other words, it's important to know how many hours or days elapse, on average, between blog post publications, and how much the time elapsed tends to deviates from the average.

I know, I need to rework that last paragraph. How would you put it?

The word that comes to mind here is "freshness." But the "blog freshness scale" differs depending on the blog's topic. I expect TechCrunch to spit out articles at a rapid-fire pace because it's a blog about breaking tech news. I wouldn't expect, say, a blog about gardening tips to publish as frequently or for the last published post to carry today's date.

Sometimes a blog lags for a month or two and then starts publishing posts again. This can affect the momentum of the blog – its ability to capture an ever-increasing audience.

When I stumble across a blog for the first time, my eyes drift quickly to the date associated with the most recently published blog post. If the post's listed publication date is more than a month ago, I tend to lose interest quickly. If I see that the last post was published a week ago or sooner, I remain intrigued.
